Individual Therapy

BTB provides support to children and adolescents who are experiencing challenges with disruptive behaviors, understanding and navigating difficult emotions, adherence to medical or healthy behavior routines, or adjusting through life changes. Children and teens encounter various obstacles in their lifetime and oftentimes, they may not have the skills or confidence to navigate these obstacles effectively and/or the space to safely process difficult emotions. At BTB, we utilize evidence-based Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

  • At BTB we tailor individual psychotherapy for children and teens utilizing evidence based approaches, such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT at BTB emphasizes:

    • Links between feelings, thoughts, and actions to help your child or teen understand and address current challenges and symptoms based on their development and way of understanding the world

    • Helping your child or teen recognize and modify recurrent behavior or thought patterns that interfere with their functioning and worsen symptoms, such as anxiety or depressed mood

    • Weekly sessions with a doctoral level psychologist combining psychoeducation, skill building, and intentional modeling of CBT skills for children, teens, and families to practice independently

    • Helping your child or teen grow increasing comfort with identifying and correcting inaccurate thoughts that may trigger anxious feelings, participate in enjoyable activities, and build problem-solving/coping skills to navigate challenges in the future

Family Therapy

At BTB, we believe that everyone benefits from learning to do something differently. We are all human, and parenting is hard. We also recognize that all families are unique. We specialize in family therapy services for those seeking support in improving family communication or parent/child interactions, navigating challenging circumstances, or adjusting to life changes (e.g., divorce, co-parenting, loss). Changing the behavior of one member of the family impacts how the family functions as a whole and relates to one another. Our goal in working together is to identify your family’s unique strengths and better understand the patterns of functioning that are keeping you stuck or thriving. Consistency and effective communication is also key. Let us also provide a neutral space for you to develop co-parenting plans, especially if parenting styles differ.

Dr. Bobal also specializes in family therapy services for children, teens, and families adjusting to complex medical diagnoses (e.g., Diabetes, siblings or children with special needs, chronic illness). Targeted support is offered for those exhibiting concerns with adherence to treatment, treatment related anxiety, as well as families looking to find ways to support their child’s developmentally appropriate independence with care.
